Secrets Places around London: Limehouse and Canary Wharf

There are many secrets places around London and Limehouse and Canary Wharf are a couple of those. We are in East London very close to the city. It’s very easy to get there with the DLR from Bank and many buses choices. The best period to visit this area is with a sunny day. Indeed London is windy and cold most of the time and you will take a cold if you walk by the river.

This part of London is not so known therefore you don’t find many tourists around. Canary Wharf can be crowded during the week due to many offices around but it is a quiet place on weekends. It’s a quiet place to take a walk through the Thames path, eat well, and jogging or cycling.

SECRETS PLACES AROUND LONDON: LIMEHOUSE

Themes path. This famous path is long 296 km and passes by Limehouse and Canary Wharf. On the path, you can find people walking, jogging, or simply take pictures of the landscape. Indeed, it’s one of my favorite places to take pictures of Canary Wharf but also the city.

The Narrow and The Prospect of Whitby. Feeling a bit hungry during the journey? There are many places where to eat well around the area. The Prospect of Whitby is one of the historic pubs in London. Here you can meet local people and be a very Londoner who eats fish and chips with a couple of bears. The narrow by Gordon Ramsay is a modern British restaurant located at the beginning of the path in Limehouse. The food is a bit expensive but you can eat well with a stunning view in front of you. Then, if you are looking for a traditional pizza deal La Figa restaurant is a perfect choice.

Canal and River Trust. There are many canals connect within the area. Don’t forget to see the Limehouse basin, a local harbor where you can find many local people in the middle of typical English houses.

SECRETS PLACES AROUND LONDON: CANARY WHARF

Canary Wharf. Even if Canary Wharf is well-known on the paper this doesn’t mean you see many tourists around. I think because this part of London is very different from the center and the main tourist attractions. The district is one of the main financial centers of the United Kingdom and the world. As a tourist, you don’t find many attractions as you find in the center. The main attractions are shopping malls, tall buildings like One Canada Square and a lot of offices and different kinds of restaurants. Especially during weekends when offices are closed, you don’t see people around and it reminds you of a ghost town.

Even if many people say Canary Wharf is not worth visiting I don’t agree (at least in part). If it’s your first time in the city then skip Canary Wharf and focus only on the main attractions. Especially if you don’t have so much time to spend in the city. But, If you are a pioneer of the city, why don’t you give Canary Wharf a try? You can see a different part of London and how much the city grew in the past decades.

ONE DAY AROUND LIMEHOUSE AND CANARY WHARF

One day around Limehouse and Canary Wharf is a good choice on a warm day of summer. You can walk through Thames Path and see incredible landscapes. I think Limehouse and Canary Wharf are a good option to relax and see something new in London. Especially if you visit London often and you want something different from the city that you know.
